Directed by Shaul Schwarz and Christina Clusiau and with production support from H/3 Foundation, the film weaves together the perspectives of hunters, breeders, farmers, anti-poaching units and conservationists across the United States and southern Africa, exposing the uncomfortable economic and ecological tensions at the heart of how the world tries to keep its most iconic animals alive.
Acquired out of Sundance by The Orchard and CNN Films, and produced by Pulse Films, Trophy received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Nature Documentary at the 40th News & Documentary Emmy Awards, and remains one of the most clear-eyed examinations of the global hunting industry and its uneasy alliance with wildlife preservation.
