In partnership with Southern Utah University, Best Friends Animal Society & Bionic Pets
Executing on an idea developed by H/3’s Founder during a rescue visit to Best Friends Animal Society in Utah, engineering students at Southern Utah University – supported by Bionic Pets and an H/3 donation – designed prosthetics for Yeti, a husky who lost part of his back limbs as a puppy and regained the ability to run.
During a rescue visit to Best Friends Animal Society in Utah, H/3’s Founder met Yeti – a sweet husky who had lost part of his back limbs in a tragic accident as a puppy. Yeti was later adopted from Best Friends in August 2020 by Leslie Carney and her son Jacen – a family ready to add a dog to their lives, and profoundly moved by Yeti’s story.
The Carneys planned to eventually purchase prosthetics for Yeti, but an unexpected and generous donation from H/3 Foundation allowed the process to start much sooner.
Executing on the H/3 idea, three engineering students at Southern Utah University – Najilah Jones, Morgan Hansen and Cierra Salcido – designed prosthetic feet for Yeti with support from Bionic Pets.
The collaboration between the students, Bionic Pets and H/3 enabled Yeti to regain mobility and live a fuller life – running on the campus lawn where his prosthetics were built.
